Whether you are a returning member or new to our club, we warmly welcome you to SMOG Netball Club. We are delighted you have chosen to be part of our club for 2022 and we look forward to providing you a wonderful, fun and memorable netball season ahead with SMOG - it is going to be a blast! The information below is a guide for the upcoming 2022 season ahead and we encourage you to visit our website for regular updates as the season unfolds.
THE 2022 NETBALL SEASON
The 2022 season will start on 30 April 2022 and run until 27 August. There will be no games on 4 June (Queens birthday) or 25 June (Matariki).
All games are to be played at ASB Sports Centre in Kilbirnie, Wellington with 16 games in total to be played throughout the 2021 season. Games are also played through the university holidays and if you are a student, it is expected that you are available to play these games.
All team trainings are held indoors at ASB Sports Centre, scheduled for either Wednesday or Thursday evenings anytime between 6pm-8pm. Once you are confirmed in your new team, the coach/management will advise you of your teams nominated training slot from the above. Team trainings run for 1 hour.
All players are required to umpire at least twice throughout the season, and we take this duty seriously as a club. Managers will be advised each week of your teams umpiring commitments and each team will set their own team rules around shared responsibility towards ensuring your umpiring obligations are fulfilled. Assistance with refining your umpiring skills is available at SMOG, and we will endeavour to run some in-club sessions for all players.
We host a number of fundraising activities at the Club during the season and we request all teams to participate. Events include quiz nights, movie night and assisting with fundraising events. We also apply for annual funding from various avenues with the intention to keep yearly subs as low as possible for our members as well as reducing the efforts required of our members to support fundraising actitivities during the season.
All players are provided with a 'loan' playing dress for the season. Dresses are allocated well in advance of the season commencing at your team trainings. There is no extra cost to hire a uniform dress as it is included within your playing fees. However please note that should you lose, damage (beyond normal wear and tear) or alter your hired dress, you will be asked to pay for part or all of the replacement costs (approx $85.00-$90.00). We also sell hoodies, training t-shirts, singlets and coffee keep cups, Request for these items can be via club committee or your team managers.
2022 season fees are now finalised and are as follows:
Premier Grades - $310.00 per player
Premier Reserve Grades & Senior Grades - $280.00 per player
Non-training Senior Grades - $220.00 per player
(this includes your Dress hire but not your $20.00 trial registration fee (we do ask that you kindly include this within your season fee above as well if it has not been paid your $20!)
Full payment of fees are due by 10th June 2021 at the latest into our SMOG Bank account below. Ideally we recommend 50% due by 10th May 2022 and the rest by 10 June 2022. If you are experiencing some difficulty in paying your fees by the due date, please don't be afraid to reach out to your team manager who will (in confidence) organise a payment plan with the club treasurer for you.
These dates align with the dates that our affiliation fees are due with Netball Wellington, so it's very important that they are met.
