Remembering Rachel

Rachel was tragically killed when she was hit by a car on her motorbike on her way home from playing a mid-week club netball on Thursday 27 August 2020, a week before the 2020 season was to end.  Upon hearing the news, the shock and devastation upon losing one of our own SMOG players was hard to comprehend for our entire club, and we remain deeply saddened to lose such a vibrant and talented netballer, club member and dear friend to many.

We remember Rachel as a lanky and tenacious GK, with a big smile and a bigger heart, always the first to offer support to team-mates on court or pick up the whistle and umpire for someone who wasn't confident enough to do it themselves.  She displayed all the elements of a ‘true SMOGGIE’ and her passing has left a hole in our Club.  In acknowledging her passing, we celebrate Rach’s life by creating this page, to always be remembered by those who will join this club in years to come.

We were blessed Rachel chose SMOG Netball Club to play her netball years and will continue to think of her fondly with wonderful memories of her warm personality, positive attitude, her smile and her abundance of talent.

ALWAYS LOVED, NEVER FORGOTTEN
